Knole House

21st Oct - weather still good

This was to 2nd grand house we visited in the same day - lots to see but we were getting a bit jaded by the time we found it in the middle of Sevenoaks. See http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Knole_House for more details

There was a recorder group playing Elizabethan songs in the Orangery. They really were pretty terrible. Perhaps they were a school group and didn't have much time to practice.

Out at the front and in two of the inner courtyards there was a film group setting up covering over all the grass, and there were enormous 'Green Screens' covering a lot of the lower stone work. Apparently it was all for a scene in the "New Sherlock Holmes" movie which was supposed to be a castle in Switzerland......

There were quite a few deer around (remnants of a 400 year herd) - this one was almost on the road and they are obviously well used to cars.
