Standen House

This is the last house we visited for a while. I promise!

This one was somewhat different as it is Victorian and one of the best examples of the 'Arts and Crafts' movement in the UK



All the furniture, wallpapers, fabrics etc. were absolutely top quality. I loved this chest which was very similar to one from 150 years earlier, but the feet corners were joined with perfect dovetails - something that would never have been done in the 1700s
















This was one of the first private houses to use electricity in the UK. I loved this bed side lamp. Has a great switch - the wiring looked original so I suspect it would be lethal if it was switched on.

Great gardens of course - interesting old Espaliered Apple trees - but out in the open not against a wall
