13th Sep - turning East
The next day the crows were definitely flying backwards - and the seagulls only occasional forward progress. It was raining harder than ever so the Arran Islands were not really an option. We decided to check out Galway but hit a major traffic jam on the way in and did a U-Turn out of there.
So instead we visited a couple more castles (probably more correctly described a Norman watch towers).
They were very well maintained and I particularly liked the hard wood staircases made with pegs and wedges - no nails. See picture below.
A kind lady gave Betty large golfing type umbrella (we eventually gave it to the Hertz man). The same lady directed us to the nice little pub for lunch.
I had the Euro 10.50 lunch special. A seafood basket with more smoked, and fresh salmon, crab and lobster meat, prawns and other delicacies than I could handle. Betty had the monster Apple Crumble and cream to follow.
Just got back from dinner and Tim is the proud father of Liam David (not sure of the spelling)
