12th Sep - Cliffs of Moher
Certainly well worth a visit - despite pretty horrible weather there were loads of tourists. But when the rain turned horizontal one particularly horrendous gust turned Betty's brolly inside out for the last time..
Found this very nice B & B in the little fishing and farming village of Doolin - very close to the harbour where the ferries go to the Isles of Arran which we hope to go to tomorrow.
Walked down the road to O'Connor's pub for an evening meal. The place was really jumping. Full to bursting with I guess 90% locals. The food, music and 'crack' was great! Definitely not laid on for the tourists.
P'raps the Cliffs of Moher are always like that *grin* they certainly were when I was there - was walking horizontally to the ground!! BTW Aran is 1 'r' in Ireland but 2 in Scotland!! Sorry U missed out on climbing almost straight up 200m to the Iron Age fort there. I recognised Doolin & it's pub etc. But I only drove past that watch tower, but it sounds like Galway's road works were S-T-I-L-L happening! Amazing!
ReplyDeleteWow! U actually got stopped by a plate of food!!!!
I won't comment further on THAT!!
Enjoy!
Love, Anna
