Wales & Castle Coch

Wed 6th Oct - another fine day

We drove from St. Austell almost into the Cotswolds (Malmsbury) to have lunch with a friend of Betty's from 1965

Then on to Llandevaud in S. Wales not far from the new Seven bridge. We stayed with Martin Dewey (a friend of mine from the early 50s :-))and his partner Sylvia. The next day they took us to Castle Coch - in the hills behind Cardiff.

An interesting place - it was a medieval castle which was ruined and then a Victorian (reputed to be the richest man in the world at that time - some very advantageous marriages helped) rebuilt it.

Here's Sylvia, Martin and myselfabout to storm the gates.

Apparently
the outside is pretty much as it was originally. But being a Victorian he went completely berserk with the interior. Not a 'sensitive' restoration but rather fun.

One of the bedroom ceilings!
On the way back from the castle we crossed on a 'Transporter Bridge' the first I have seen.

    U C I am keeping up with U!

Wonder if U did go to Bangor - I've been there a number of times when staying with a friend on Anglesy.
