Laycock to Bruton

Mon 27th Sep - reasonably fine!

This was a nice Pastoral scene out of the window of our B & B.
We then walked round the village which is pretty unspoilt and much as it was in the 1700's. It's been used in lots of movies including 'Pride and Prejudice' and lately the 'Cranford' series.

Just down the road is Laycock Abbey which is very impressive. When Henry VIII 'dissolved' the monasteries. He gave the property to one of his friends who made extensive additions.
But the new owner left the original cloisters which featured rather more recently in Harry Potter movie.

After lunch in one of the pubs w drove on to Bruton in Somerset where we were shown around special Mill. I'll do a separate Blog entry on that.
